HISTORICAL FACTS OF HOLYLAND

The Holy Land is an area roughly located between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea that also includes the Eastern Bank of the Jordan River. Traditionally, it is synonymous with both the biblical Land of Israel and historical Palestine. The term usually refers to a territory roughly corresponding to the modern State of Israel, the Palestinian territories, western Jordan, and parts of southern Lebanon and southwestern Syria. It is considered holy by Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

MARY MAGADALENE

Saint Mary Magdalene, sometimes called simply the Magdalene, was a Jewish woman who, according to texts included in the New Testament, traveled with Jesus as one of his followers. She is also said to have witnessed Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Within the four Gospels, she is named at least 12 times.

VILLAGE OF NAZARETH

Nazareth Village is an open-air museum in Nazareth, Israel, that reconstructs and reenacts village life in Galilee in the time of Jesus. The village features houses, terraced fields, wine, and olive presses all built to resemble those that would have been in a Galilee village in the 1st century. Muslim and Christian living history enactors dress in period costumes and show visitors how farm, domestic, and craftwork was performed two thousand years ago.

MARY INTERNATIONAL CENTRE

A Major Stop Beside Basilica The Mary of Nazareth International Centre is a new non-profit project of the French association « Marie de Nazareth », run by the Chemin Neuf community. It welcomes thousands of visitors each year since its opening in January 2012. Intended for pilgrims as well as local people, the Centre uses modern technologies to make you discover or rediscover the Christian faith.
